How to tell if your Facebook message has been read

So you sent a message on Facebook and now you’re sitting there wondering if they’ve read it yet because you’re anxiously awaiting their response.  Well now you can see if someone has read your message or not.

Once you’re in your message center on Facebook, you’ll see a little arrow under their name and message which indicates that they have NOT read your message.

If there is a check mark under the message, it means they've read your message.

You can also check by clicking into the message and under the last message that you sent, it’ll have a check mark and seen and then the date.

It is that simple, but don’t sit around waiting for a response and driving yourself bonkers.  If it is that important, then pick up the phone and call them

Was 2012 kind to you? Will 2013 be different?

I encourage you as we walk into this new year, determine what you have allowed to hold you back over the last 12 months, maybe your entire life. What excuses have you made? How many times have you said I will do that tomorrow? How many times have you said I cannot afford that, or even worse having to tell your children, we can't afford that? What did you accomplish on your goal list for the year?

I don't know about you however I remember those years that I put things off, that I didn't work the way I should of, where I made excuses in place of action, where I watched my life dwindle away into hardship and sadness, the years where I was simply surviving and watching the world pass me on by verses being the one IN THE WORLD CHANGING IT.

Now that I am a professional, DEDICATED, ACTION TAKER and have been able to watch not only my life but SO MANY others that I care about change around me due to commitment and action over the last 1 year... I only have a few things for you to help bring awareness to your life...

What is 2013 to you? What are you going to COMMIT to now for a new time, a new day, a new opportunity to create the life you envision? Are you COMMITTED to taking the actions every day? Are you COMMITTED to writing out your specific goals and knowing that you already have them accomplished this year? Are you ready to make the decisions and choices NOW, to create that tomorrow that will brighten and beauty your life and most importantly other's lives?

What choices have you put on the back burner that could have changed your life in the last 12 months? You know the ones where you say, I would have started that new business BUT I didn't have the money, then you went and spent $500 on materialistic things you did not need. I would have taken on changing my health, losing that 20 pounds BUT I didn't have the time. I would have spent more time on personal development BUT I just work way too much. I would have spent more time with people who inspire me BUT I already have all these people I say yes in my life to now (which usually are people who are sucking you dry of your positive energy). I would have given back more BUT I couldn't even pay my own bills, how could I help someone else?

I AM NOT just telling you that you can CHANGE that, I have SHOWN that you can. I have proved that no matter what circumstances you come from or experiences you have been in, ALL you have to do is make the choice and take action. You have to be the IMPACTOR not the victim.
QUIT the excuses, QUIT the pity party, get OVER yourself and just choose right here and now that you will do WHAT IT TAKES to make those changes in your life by doing what will ALLOW those in.

I encourage you, don't wait to the 1st. Do it TODAY. COMMIT today. Make the DECISION today. Take the ACTION on what you envision today.

As we walk into this New Year, I am sending you all my heart, love and light within your journey. Know the BLESSING you are to this world and how incredibly talented you are. IT IS in you, you have got the goods, just BELIEVE in yourself enough to use them. And surround yourself with those who have what you want and will light up your life with positivity!

Thank you Jennifer May for your amazing, inspiring words!

Don't kiss your chances goodbye

Many times each day I am approached by other entrepreneurs who want me to join their company with them.  Ninety eight percent of the time I am seriously annoyed.

Times have changed in the way people market their business.  Just a few years ago you could post ads all over the internet and your inbox would be flooded with people messaging you for more information on what you’re doing. Now, things are different.  You can spends hours a day posting ads all over the internet and get ZERO response from your efforts.

So what is working?

The answer and methods are simple; relationship building and attraction marketing.  When it comes down to it, people join people, not companies.

Think about it.  If you were a door to door salesperson selling vacuum cleaners and you went into someone’s home to present your product to them, what are the chances that they buy a vacuum from you if you barely said a word? Even though you might have the greatest vacuum ever, in order to get them to buy it you need to build a rapport with them, get to know them and get them to like and trust YOU.

The same goes for this industry.  You want to take the time to get to know someone because if you shove your business in someone’s face right away before taking the time to build a rapport with them, you can kiss your chances goodbye.

In some of my Facebook group that I am a member of, I hear people say “There is no selling in my business.”  I want to laugh when I hear that because honestly you need to sell yourself to your prospects in order for them to join you.  You want them to see what YOU have to offer and why YOU are the person they should join with.   So again it comes back to that relationship building.  Ultimately that person wants to know who they are joining with and that you have their best interest at heart and that you’ll be there for them.

So I want you to try this.  Instead of posting an ad on the internet or even your Facebook page, go to your Facebook page, if you have one and message 3 separate people who are not in the same company as you and who you haven’t talk with in a while.  In the message simply say something like “Hi (their first name).  It’s been a while.  How are you?”  Start building a relationship with them, catch up, see what they’re up to and eventually it come full circle where you’re able to talk about your business with them.  It might not happen right away and that is alright.  Keep going back to them and keep that connection going.

Consistency is Key

Working from home cannot always be easy and is not always easy. Honestly the first couple of years are the hardest when growing a home business, website or opportunity. Even a home job takes a lot of self-discipline and motivation. You have to get up every morning to get the job done. You must put in the work, effort and consistency every day to accomplish your goals of being successful from home. What you will find is that many who have those so called "Work 30 minutes a day on your computer and make $10,000 a month" websites, ads and spam as we call it, they are just pretty much putting on act. It is not that easy to work from home, it takes work, effort and heart just like anything else worth working for does. Those who start their search on work from home can get suckered into these so called "Opportunities"... which basically all hype and no truth.
Here is the truth of being successful working from home. It takes WORK and CONSISTENCY every day. The success, freedom, income and happiness are not going to be just given to you; you have to earn it. You have to put in the blood, sweat and tears to make it happen. Don't be fooled by someone just trying to recruit you into their opportunity. Honesty is always the best policy. Those who will be honest with you on what it will take to be successful are the ones you should trust. Not those who tell you it is as simple as spending 30 minutes a day on the computer. This is where the base of this Article comes in... Consistency is KEY in the success of working from home. No matter what you choose to do, you must be working it day in and day out just like you would a 9 to 5 outside of the home job you would go to. You need to make it an obligation and a responsibility to work each and every day. Once you put your Home Business, Website, Opportunity or Home Job a PRIORITY in your life (Just like your Family, Children, Job, etc.) that is when you truly will start seeing results.
Here a Few Tips on how to be consistent…

1. Set a schedule daily that you will abide by. Write a list of the different things that need be done, times you will do them and accomplish that schedule. Even making a checklist that you can keep yourself accountable for is a great way to abide by it. (No matter if it is 2 hours a day or 10 hours a day, ABIDE by your schedule)
2. Do not take huge breaks in between. (For example do not take days off or weeks off at a time, unless it is necessary, as this will get you out of the flow and less self-motivated each day)
3. Write your goals, WHY and dreams in front of you. Create a vision board. Print out these three things on bright piece of paper and leave in your house, your car, the back of your doors; where ever it will remind you on WHY you are working consistently every day.
4. We all have bad days and moments where we do not want to work. Get up and work ANYWAYS no matter how you feel. Stay in the motion daily as losing this motion will assist you in losing yourself motivation to make it happen.
5. Work on personal growth and development daily. A great article was done on what this entails called What is Personal Growth? And why is it Important to my Home Business and Life? This is one of the biggest parts of staying consistent. Learning how to build a better you and always growing yourself as a person and Leader will ensure you are working daily on these goals and dreams.
Again, making your home business, website, opportunity or home job a top priority in your life you will achieve the goals and dreams you strive for. Consistent daily steps will bring you to the finish line strong. Just remember the old story about the Tortoise and the Hare... Slow and Steady wins the race! It is not how fast you start it is if you FINISH STRONG!

Stop Making Excuses

You need to go after what you want.  Live the life you want and deserve.  Don’t be too scared to take the steps to make that change.

First you need to be completely honest with yourself and admit that you truly do make excuses.
What are you really saying?

Your excuse: I don’t have the time
What you’re really saying: I am not willing to create the time needed to change my future.

Your excuse: I work outside of the home.
What you’re really saying: I am exhausted and want to continue to live my life like this forever and ever.  I am too scared to make a change or step out of my comfort zone. I want to come home from work, make dinner, watch TV  go to bed and do it all again the next day even though I hate my job.

Your excuse: My business isn't working.
What you’re really saying:  I am not following the system (trainings) provided to me.  I am not taking action.

Your excuse: I am not getting results /  My network is too small to help me succeed.
What you’re really saying:  I am not talking to people daily.  I am not taking the right actions to create results.  I am scared to pick up the phone.

Your excuse: I have been working so hard and nothing is happening.
What you’re really saying: I am not truly following the system.  I don’t have faith/belief in myself.  I am unsure of myself and that this really can work.

Your excuse: Why is everyone moving up/getting promoted and I stay where I am at.
What you’re really saying: I am comparing myself to others so I don’t have to face my own issues.

Your excuse: I have children.
What you’re really saying: I am hiding behind the fact that I am a parent and am scared that if I put in more time into my business that I’ll neglect my kids.  I am not treating this like a business.  It is not on the top of my priority list.

First off,  STOP SAYING “I”.  Take yourself out of the equation.  What you do needs to be about others and helping them, so come from the heart and not the mind.
Don’t make time for excuses!!!!!!

Why to use LinkedIn

Why use LinkedIn??
LinkedIn is best compared to an online resume. People will be able to check out the work you’ve done, where you are now, see your connections and your recommendations from others.
Where to start?
After signing up at www.LinkedIn.com, the first and one of the most important things you want to do is complete your profile. If you don't have a complete profile, you're not going to get anywhere with it so be sure to fill it out completely.
Check out my profile at www.LinkedIn.com/in/LauraGelnett
What’s Next?
Now that your profile is created you need to add contacts to your profile. To start you can search for people you know like friends, family, and co-workers. Connections will help you to meet other people which will ultimately introduce you to people that will help you grow your business or they'll help you possible prospects.
After you have added all the contacts you have it's time to join groups so you can find more people to add. You'll want to join groups that are related to your business or the type of work you do for a living. You'll want to communicate with people and network with them before you ask them to be a contact.
The last thing you need to do is ask for recommendations, but this can't happen until you add contacts. You'll want to start with people you've worked with or currently work with. By having recommendations, people who are looking at your profile will get to more insight into who you are and what type of work ethics you have.
LinkedIn is a very good social networking site and it's one you should use no matter if you run a business and you're looking for new customers or clients or if you have a job and you're looking for a new one. You'll want to visit your LinkedIn profile daily, kind of like we do out Facebook pages, and make posts both on your profile page and the groups you're a part of. People will begin to trust you and they'll want connect with you and see how you can help them with their needs
